it stretches out the serratus and pecs vertically... its better to do this exercise with the body side-ways on the bench so u can lower your hips to increase the stretch...

is this a really good exercise for the chest? ive never done it before but i think i might, wut do u think?

Actually, I think it's a better movement for the back and shoulders. According to physiology books, it works the chest as well.
