    Venezuela's Economy Expanded 9.4%

    December 28, 2005

Dec. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuela's economy grew 9.4 percent in 2005 as President Hugo Chavez boosted government spending and increased subsidies for the South American country's poor...

  • ...Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of a country's production of goods and services, expanded for a ninth quarter in the October-to-December period, Central Bank President Gaston Parra said in a statement, without giving the fourth-quarter figure. Venezuela's economy expanded 17.9 percent in 2004..

New paper looks at data, corrects misreporting

An Issue Brief released by the Center for Economic and Policy Research looks at the numbers and concludes:...

  • ...The household poverty rate was thus reduced by nearly 5 percentage points, or 12.9 percent, from 42.8 percent in the first half of 1999 (when President Chavez took office) to 37.9 percent in the second half of 2005. Since the economy has continued to grow rapidly this year (first quarter growth came in at 9.4 percent), the poverty rate is almost certainly significantly lower today....

  • ...The reduction in poverty noted above, since 1999, measures only cash income. This, however, does not really capture the changes in the living standards of the poor in Venezuela, since there have been major changes in non-cash benefits and services in the last few years - for example health care is now provided to an estimated 54 percent of the population. The paper looks briefly at the impact of these changes....

  • No Golpe...? Prenados con las mejores intenciones...? Estos ineptos son las escuela como fracasar en un golpe de estado

  • Chavez did not kill Martin Luther King, nor Kennedy, nor one million people for oil with lies, nor 3000 nuclear weapons pointing to every nation in the world, nor investing 700 billion dollars per year on military expenditures, nor intelligent service agencies sending mails with Anthrax Virus to its own population while blaming other country, nor Kings on its constitution, nor world record of drug addicts, nor Nazi retarded on CNN or FOX news, nor 13 trillion dollars debt.

  • This shows that before you go BELIEVING and regurgitating the "NEWS" that the corporate media BRAINWASHED you with, you should be careful not to pass on MISINFORMATION!

Los VENDE PATRIA vendian a Venezuela desde Caracas, ahora la venden desde Miami con el resto de los DESPATRIADOS Cubanos.

  • It is really sad that the media ploted with the assassins of the inocent people killed that day.

  • For this they should all lose their broadcast licenses and all should be in jail.
