iPhone can't boot, but endless turn on/off

iPhone can't boot normally. If placed in a doc, it turn on and turn of again. But in "Recovery Mode", it does not turn of again.
May be a hardware problem?

i have an ipod touch 4g and when it boots, it shows apple logo then the screen turns white for less than a second. then it show the apple logo again. i have tried everything and nothing works. PLEASE help me ;-;

@poppyemma1 my iphone 3gs will turn on and off automatically and when it shuts off atfter like 5 minutes of just being on lines o through the screen and the apple sign shows up im getting pissed
