We all know there is a formula for success in the weight room. Eating foods and taking supplements specifically for what you're training for is just as important as knowing what muscle groups your going to train that day.

Fortunately for you M&F Raw makes it as easy as literally comparing apples to oranges. Jim Stoppani PhD takes a "close" look into what pre-workout carbs you should be eating before your next training session.

  • i know of pro-bbers who take like 3-4 bananas pre-workout. apples or oranges doesnt really matter, just train like a fucking animal

  • @RobWein83 exactly

  • I love how misleading this is to caloric requirements in order to build muscle mass. Shouldn't he mention the nutrients he is taking in from the other 3,500 -4,000 calories he is consuming during the day. Hah! It's after consuming tons of food day in day out where this kind of nitpicking is just absurd.

  • @hendrixlp1970 my thoughts too! please answer jim! :)

  • i just eat an apple and one orange - full stop! ;)

  • I don't know what really to take away from that...

You say the apple contains polyphenols - which are critical to muscle building.

Then you say oranges have Vitamin C - which promotes nitric oxide...ALSO critical to muscle building.

That'd be great if you could make it clear when/why you'd want one or the other, but you arguments seem to suggest that they are interchangable.

    Am I misunderstanding something?

  • orange have quercitin too!!! super critical

  • vitamin c reduces cortisol too, right?

  • I eat a pear before I workout because I don't like apples and eating an orange before I lift gives me acid reflux.
