This is a video of the two-time Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet performing their John Coltrane-informed version of the Sound of Music classic, "My Favorite Things," in Espinho, Portugal, on July 6th, 2008.

From left to right the musicians are: Mads Tolling (violin), David Balakrishnan (violin), Mark Summer (cello), and Jeremy Kittel (viola).

  • The only musicians I ever actually wanted autographs from. Met the guys after a concert in PA on a rainy night in a small college town. There wasn't 50 people there, but they played like it was 50,000. Talked with them after for about 15 minutes. Great bunch of guys. Hope they stay together for many years.

  • They performed at my performing arts school today!! They are fantastic! I love how they combine all different styles. It's masterfully done :P

  • I just read an article on these men in the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. WOW! Wonderful music. I then skipped over to iTunes and purchased many songs. Kudos to Turtle Island Quartet.
