NOT FOR REBROADCAST
On our way north on I-65 (just north of Cullman, AL), Adam Lucio and I intercepted a weakening supercell that had been reported to be producing a tornado earlier. As we rounded a turn, we had a very brief view of the thin, needle-like tornado just as it roped out over the highway.
The tornado occurs around the 0:30 mark and only lasts for about 10 seconds on the video. It's not obvious, and it is hard to see. We weren't even sure if it was a tornado or not at first because the cell had been progressively weakening on radar and did not show a definitive couplet at the time. When we arrived at the location the tornado crossed the interstate, we encountered downed trees blocking the highway, which were blown down in the opposing direction of the way the RFD winds were blowing (an indicator of circulating winds). We assisted with several other motorists in cutting up and clearing some of the trees in order to clear one lane of traffic.

Can't really see anything in this vid, much less a rope.
