Well, according to the plot of that episode, she is sleeping, perchance to dream.
But of course she could have fallen asleep while meditating. Late in the progress
of the Love Hina manga, there's a bit about her briefly (thank goodness) wanting to become a nun. There are Buddhist nuns. If there are not Shinto nuns (and I've never heard of any), this would point toward Motoko being some kind of Buddhist.
