@frogsoda - For most people LR is all they will ever need for their editing. Photoshop is great for complex, in-depth manipulation of images. There is a scaled-down version of PS called Elements, which most people would ever need. IMO LR and PSE are a great combination. I recommend starting with LR first, and adding PSE if needed.
