Basket Meals used to be served a lot in English pubs. They were basically food in wicker baskets, which you could easily eat on your lap in the pub garden. It's just occured to me that this phrase (and the mention of German wines) come from a Squeeze song called Gone to the Dogs.
The significance of the Cheshire Cheese pub is that I went there on an early date (with the girl in the song) and also used to hang out there after we seperated. It's a lovely old pub and does indeed have a lucky step and view of St. Bride's Church.
This is a song that I'm really pleased with, as it's very personal... It was originally recorded in C#, but I've now changed it to Eb, for ease of singing.
The sticker on my 12 string guitar is of a 1920's girl. You can see my original drawing on my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/ianevans. My T-shirt in this video is for the band They Might be Giants.
Ian I love you! :) I can finally hear all the sound for your videos with my new headphones at work, you're so great :) xx
