My Rheem Croterion 2 has had a bad pressure switch for about a year now. Every once and a while It will not start up, it's because the pressure switch is stuck in the open position instead of returning to it's normal closed position when the unit turns off. To get it back in the closed position you either have to 1. Take the hose off the inducer that attaches to the pressure switch and then slightly blow into it and then the switch will click and that means it's back in the closed position. 2. Tap on the top of the furnace like I did in the video or tap on the pressure switch. Eventually it will be replaced but for now I can deal with it. Please comment, rate, and subscribe!

  • Thank you so much!! We've already spent $180 on a repair man who didn't do anything!!

I tapped it and it worked!! I feel confident because of your videos that I will be able to replace it!!

    Thank you so much!!

  • @Melissa78410 You are very welcome!! That's why i put videos like this on here so that it will help other people diagnose their furnace and its problems.

If i were you i would look for a good technician who knows what he is doing! Look online and find reviews for HVAC companies and find the one that has the best reviews. Most work on a furnace is pretty easy that anyone can be capable of doing it as long as they learn the basics of how they work and what each part does. Thanks for comment

  • That is crazy! Mine is doing the same thing. Did you have to replace the pressure switch?

  • @Bigsho69 Yes, i did replace the pressure switch and it works great now!

  • @Nowayout360 Either a Carrier or a Rheem/Ruud. This is a reliable system i have now, it just needs a pressure switch and maybe a flame sensor at one point then it will be working perfectly again. Its probably going to be a while before we get a new system, unless it dies before then.

  • @compdude957 ah if your unit dies what brand would you want next?

  • @Nowayout360 2002 (9 years old)

  • how old is your furnace man?

  • That's Crazy, our Rheem Criterion had a relay that went bad so it wouldn't cycle through the glow plug start up- these Rheem's are very reliable until they stop working. LOL!

  • @AVTreasures I have a plastic one and it is cheap! The metal ones seem to be more reliable than these cheap plastic ones.
