  • Beautiful work! How many pounds where you using?

  • @TheMudma About 10 pounds.

  • I had a question, i have been throwing a bit taller than usual lately, when i get to about 10 inches, i attempt to go for another pull, but what happens is i start to shred small ribbon like chunks of clay, and it end up lopsided, any advice?

  • @TheDraindeimo It sounds like you are not lubricating enough. Remember before each pulling, you want to add either water or slip to the surface, otherwise the friction will cause problem.

  • @hsinchuen how do i tell when im using too much water though?

  • @TheDraindeimo There is nothing wrong using water, but personally I prefer using slip to water. Slip sticks to the clay surface better than water. Excess water will soften the clay and cause collapse.

  • Beautiful work! I just started doing pottery last year and the wheel in January of this year. I have fallen in love with the wheel. I see you're using the rib tool in the pulling up. What exactly are you doing? How does it help with the pulling up?

I get problems with the pulling because at a point the tall cylinders starts to twist on me. What am /i doing wrong?

  • WHAT KIND OF CLAY DO YOU USE?

  • Thank you Hsin, you're techiniques are wonderful!

  • @SharJoyC ya i would do that too but i dont have my own wheel and whenever i leave something on the wheel for an hour and leave people will mess with it.

  • I personally want to thank you, 3 years of pottery and i have always had one single problem, when i threw it didnt feel stable or right, with your technique i not only multiplied my height 3 fold, but i also learned how to knead the proper way.

thank you from the very bottom of my heart.

  • @littlebigprominence Thanks for the input, I have at times let a piece just sit for a while on the wheel and firm up before I finish throwing :)

  • @hsinchuen Yes but how do i know when i am using too much, usually by the time i realize it, its too late.
