In this video I am playing a MIM Fender Strat w/ Dimarzio Area '61 '58 '67 pickups. The '61 is in the bridge position, the '58 is in the middle position and the '67 is in the neck position. The amp I am using is a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 and I am running through a Fulltone OCD overdrive pedal with an Ernie Ball Jr Volume - Boss DD-5 - Boss DD-20 - Boomerang Phrase Sampler through the effects loop. I recorded this on my Mac so the mic is not profession but there is hardly any clipping so i kept it. If you have questions just leave a comment.

  • @boboplex I'm my opinion these are the best sounding hum canceling pickups out there. That said, the hum is only about 90% gone depending on where you have your amp plugged in. But it is a significant difference than with regular pickups. I how that answers your question. And thanks for the props!

  • If it was my guitar, I would seriously think about putting the 67 in the middle and the 58 in the neck.

    Thanks for the good review!

  • I decided this way because the '61 has a high output so i like it in the bridge, but once i learn more about soldering I will move them around just to see. Thanks!

  • Great playing brother. Way'ta make a mexi strat sound better than most American strats hanging at the top wall of Guitar Center. :)

But I do agree with some others. Do a demo without the delay (and any other effects that are on). Less coloration.

  • Will do! I can make another video and i'll put it up here.

  • effects make it hard to judge tone man so its a poor demo to me

  • I don't think that the effects I use effect the tone. The delay is doing exactly that, delaying the guitar sound that you hear. and I use the overdrive to show how they react to pedals like that. Agree to disagree I suppose.

  • just got them .....love em..........thanx

  • @worshipking14 there are better... kinman beat them hands down... but well, they cost about twice as much...

  • rockin man ....I got to hunt a set down

  • @tashawnify its called delay. "DD-7" -- google it.

  • i'm seriously considering the mexi made daphne blue 50's classic reissue 544 euros here in spain ($707 USD) and swapping the pickups to the area 58 but my question is how does it hold in tune with the tremolo? otherwise, i'll go for the sam totman sapphire with evolution pickups already installed and a zero III tremolo... thanks for your post... superb sound on your strat...

  • @somogendogen I was thinking the sam thing but the 67 is a fatter sound and the 58 is more twangy so it could go either way i guess..

  • Great sound!! I'm not a guitarist but have played before. How do u get that echo??

  • @boboplex I had 58/58/61 on my old strat and DUDE! they are quieter than my rg with humbuckers. Really nice sounding pickups. The tone is very stratty but think more a modern twangy strat.

  • How well does the hum cancelling work on these pickups? 60 cycle hum drives me up a wall so very important that they are quiet. Have the Fender SCN's and they work well but think these may sound better. Nice Demo BTW.
