Opus One isn't exactly new to the California luxury wine game. The winery was started as a collaboration between Robert Mondavi and Philippe de Rothschild back in the late 70s as a way of introducing the concept of First Growth quality wine in Napa Valley's unique terroir. More than 30 years later, David Pearson holds the CEO reigns to Opus One, the single most recognizable high-end name is Napa Valley wine. In part 1 of this 2 part interview, Gary Vaynerchuk sat down with Pearson at Vintank Headquarters to talk about the history behind the brand, how it's changed over the years, and what it means to oversee the operations at Napa Valley's first unofficial "First Growth".
