At the 2011 Go Green Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center the Ventura County chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement shared a booth to spread awareness about the movement and a Resource Based Economy. We took the camera and some DVDs of Zeitgeist: Moving Forward to pass out and get the reaction of green inspired vendors. Danette asked, "Do you think it is fair that you need green (money) to go green (be environmentally sustainable)?"

  • I ca't believe some people haven't at least heard of it. It's everywhere online...

  • @Soldier957 Yes, the films are everywhere online but most people don't spend a lot of time on the Internet. People who do spend a lot of time online usually only encounter other people who spend a lot of time online and thats just a fraction of the population. We estimate that as many as 70% of the people we approach on the street never heard of Zeitgeist. There are A LOT of people in the world that've never been exposed to this information and never will if we don't reach out to them in person.

  • Nice job Dannette! I'm part of the santa barbara ZM. One way to speed the process up is if we start forming communities around the world now and live with like minded people. Seeing is believing. I'm in the process of joining this one here on the west coast and I hope to see u there too - onecommunityranch. Send me a msg if you ever want to meet up and discuss!

  • @phatening You're part of the SB chapter? I'm not sure I've ever met you. We're very connected with the SB group. We collaborate with them all the time. We go to LA events together, we team up and do screenings together, we even go on hikes and have social gatherings together.

  • Wow! Great job Dannette!!!!

  • Great Job guys!! great editing and posed questions! makes me smile :D

  • Nice. This is what we need. More people pitching the ideas when big names are around so they can build their businesses around the idea.

  • @justintempler and that also goes for any other system with money as a main incentive and driving force, communism is the same in that respect. I think we should figure out a system that has the experience of life, development of consciousness and personal growth as a main incentive. In the end that is the only thing that matters to us, wether we seek it in the 'accumulation of wealth' that the illusion of matter can drive us to do, or something else...

  • @justintempler I believe I understand what a laissez faire economy is about, but I don't see how it will prevent companies from doing wrong if as long as it means they will make more money. Killing the planet and decieving consumers does not automatically mean a company will fail, or that people won't try it anyway. Unless we, as consumers, communicate freely and openly and activily keep everything in check. But with a capitalistic system it will always remain somewhat of a struggle...

  • @justintempler "We have far too many consumers and not enough producers." What do you mean? We don't produce enough? Or do we lack diversity in producers? Because I do believe we produce plenty, if you take a look at what ends up in landfills and how much food we trow away, even before it has a chance to reach the consumer. The problem is that we overproduce, and at the same time produce a lot of stuff that is only ment to last a limited time to keep the market going.

  • @justintempler The economic crisis, but mainly technology I think. The way information can travel nowadays is a world apart from only a few decades ago. Although media company's are nowadays in the hands of only a few, we now have the internet. And, unless we allow them to gain control over it, it will definately change the way we think and interact as a global community on the long run.
