Have you running endlessly on the treadmill to find that your not burning as much fat as you'd hoped? Well, try using sprints, a form of high intensity interval training or HIIT, to blast that stubborn fat. Do a total of 30 minutes of cardio, but instead of going at one single pace the whole time, try doing intervals. For example, 30s sprinting 90s walking for a total of 20 minutes. Then, immedietly follow that with 10 minutes of steady state cardio in the fat burning zone aka zone 2. HIIT is great at releasing fat cells while steady state cardio is great at using those released fat cells for energy. If you just do interval training and no cardio afterwards, the fat cells that were released may end up re-deposited back into your body because they were not used for energy immedietly after they were released. That is where the zone 2 cardio comes in. Do this is scavenge all those left over free fatty acids so they don't end up back in your body and slow your fat loss efforts. This way of training also helps preserve the precious muscle you have been working so hard to build. It will help prevent that "bloated look" many lifters get when they neglect cardio.

  • I started doing HIIT Sprinting this week and after watching this video yesterday I took your advice and did 10 mins cardio on the exercise bike straight after the sprinting. I will be doing the 10 mins after every time I sprint. Thank you for the great advice : )

  • wow thanks for the information on the fat cell release from intense cardio/weights this is what is what i was missing. I will keep you updated with my journey.

  • @N0misterniceguy In my opinion, I think sprints are way more geared towards "real life" situations than steady state cardio is, so who cares if your not good with steady state cardio. If someone is trying to kidnap you or kill you, your not really going to need to run for 10 miles to get away. You need to run as fast as you can for a few minutes to find a hiding spot or some help and that's it. Assuming you don't live in the middle of nowhere lol

  • Thank you so much! I was one of the people who did 15 minutes of high interval training and then i'd just go sit down. Thanks for pointing out that you need to cooldown/ walk for a bit. Now i know why I stopped losing weight with insanity because i started to cut corners like I'd do the excercise but I wouldn't do the cooldown. =/

    Thanks again!
