A short discussion on reloading fixed rifle ammunition which covers precautions and risks. I review precautions and show many different types of rifle and handgun cases and bullets discussing sizes, types and construction.
This is part 1 of a multi-part video series on how I reload ammunition and how and why I use various methods.
CAUTION: Reloading ammunition is a dangerous undertaking and should only be done by knowledgeable adults with proper training. These videos demonstrate the method(s) I use and are not to be used as an authoritative or professional reference. Verify all of your load data with powder and bullet manufacturer references.
I just finished watching the entire "Reloading rifle ammunition" magnus and found it very interesting mailnly because I have just begun reloading. I've watched many other videos on youtube and yours is the most thorough.
A few short questions;
how do you remove the sizing lube, and do you use a case tumbler on PREVIOUSLY FIRED ammo I will be reloading onlly 45-70 govnt now. Is it possible to resize only the neck on brass fired only in my one gun, and do I need to?

@1lefty475 I clean cases (when the "need" it) in several manner, one is to use 000 steel wool on the neck and shoulder for lightly sooted cases and the other is to use a tumbler with polishing compound impregnated corn-cob media. When using the tumbler I leave the empty cases in for several hours.
I remove the case lubricant with a paper towel if warranted, many times it is such a small amount that it is effectively cleaned away by simple handling. -more-

Lube inside the neck is removed with a thin cotton cloth (old t-shirt strip) wrapped around a cotton tipped applicator (I use the wooded ones - Sinclair International) but a Q-Tip will work too. I can clean about 3 or 4 case necks before adjusting the cotton cloth to a clean spot.
A 45-70 Govt is straight wall, a three die set I believe. I have no experience with "neck only" sizing on straight wall cases, I'd full length size. Neck size only is not needed. Take Care. Dave
