This is a video I put up of the now deceased, troubled, genius rock star, Kurt Cobain. The song is an acoustic home demo Kurt made in 1990, called Opinion. It is found in the "With the Lights Out" box set; which was Nirvana's last jewel. This album is beautiful and remains unkown for many people, containing an incredible mix of genres (rock, punk, psychedelic, grunge) within its former unreleased songs.

Though it's pretty short, I hope this video stays in the heart and soul of all of you, Nirvana lovers. You are all too many for me to name, but if you feel this passion and almost brotherly relationship with the songs and their remarkable lyrics (like I do), take note that you are being mentioned. Unlike other people on the planet, Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic have flawlessly depicted a whole generation; one which grew with countless complications and has abounding troubles yet to confront.

It may take rather precious time to find out the meaning behind all Nirvana's words, sometimes even years of listening to the deep shouts of frustration exuding from those great, eloquent and affecting songs. I have finally found a reason to these afflicted words, and for the first time in my life, they have touched me in a way that is unimaginable to anyone not aware of the ecstasy within Nirvana's songs.

Kurt never brought up the commendable side of humanity in his lyrics, but instead, he brought the dark side of a whole generation to life; those things that people had been hiding within their souls for years were at last described.

The lyrics can be assimilated - although not easy - but if one percieves the idea that is hidden within words, what will finally will appear as a final but rather sad and shameful message, is the fact that drugs, sex, technology, peoples' ambition and human nature have "fucked up" a whole generation, which has thus succumbed to greed and utter unconcern.

Peace, love and empathy.

  • this was recorded on Calvin Johnsons's radio show in 1990. not at his house. Look into "with the lights outs" boxset for more of his home demos if that what your interested in, is.

  • The music industry after Kurt is like Aperture after Neurotoxin.

  • Gods dont die

  • Kurt is up there way up there like up there with lennon morrisson nah even more up there than that like up there with elliott smith r.i.p.

  • @crimsondevil2245 What are you talking about. Looking way too much into what?

  • @CobainLennon8094 Lookin way to much into it

  • @RicoLen1 Yeah I've read 3 of his bios, and he was known for lying a lot to the press. No way he wrote this song on the way over.

  • @CobainLennon8094 He did say that, but you could tell when he said it that he was full of shit, cause he also said that he wrote the lyrics in the car as he drove with his feet.

  • The thing about Kurt wasn't so much his musical talent. He had it, that's not what I'm saying, but where Kurt really shined was when he was lucid and wrote the lyrics to his songs. Those songs were absolutely amazing and full of incite, and he couldn't have been more dead on about the things he discussed in his music. Sappy and Opinion are two of the best songs I've ever heard lyrically. No one will ever compare to him.

  • nice description 10jao
