I've heard a recording of this piece (on indiefeed: performance poetry) that was much softer. The ending has more of a pleading tone, rather than demanding. You might like that one better.

McConnell is an excellent writer and performer. However, I'm a bit put off by this piece. It seems a little judgmental and didactic.
