@chubbybrown4real Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes I can confirm the two are similar as both appliances include Stirling engine technology to generate electricity. Please let me know if you need any further information.

I work for a UK gas company we work along side yourselves and i would love to learn more about these products. : D

@MrGuvEuroman We're glad you'd like to learn more about the Baxi Ecogen. We do currently run technical courses on the Baxi Ecogen, although only in conjunction with other courses. However, an area you may wish to look into is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme which covers this technology as well as other microgeneration products.

Will this boiler need a thermal store if I replace my combi boiler?

I've been trying to get detailed info from Baxi for 18 months, registered for updates & still no news.

I would like to visit a live installation to assess performance &noise levels.

Will this be possible? Many questions but little response from BAXI to date.

@MiMoassociate Thanks for your comments. You can expect to pay around £3000 more than a regular boiler. This initial cost can be recouped through savings on fuel bills.

The Baxi Ecogen is a heat only boiler that can be used on UK standard S/Y/W plan systems so an unvented cylinder or thermal store is needed for hot water.

@chubbybrown4real Thank you for your post. i would advise that you contact British Gas for a price. As pricing can vary somewhat depending upon installation difficulty and existing system details.

Yes! The Baxi Ecogen will be available in the UK from the 6 April 2010.
