Original Classic "Subdivisions" by RUSH,
I Recorded this video to my digital camera, playing along with Ray Harber on drums, David Muse on bass.

This version was recorded after employing a different practice technique, of which I will post on another video. I find that it's not simply your practice time that will improve your play... It's the quality of the time that matters.

The recording is rough (my apologies) and I will fine-tune my playing a bit down the road, but a trained ear can hear the differecne between this version and my previous versions, Fender Squire P Bass demo Subdivisions 1, and 2.

I only worked on this for a few days and showed reasonable improvement with better attacks and quicker riffs, and more accurate percussive qualities.

This bass is a Fender "Squire" P Bass with a Rumble 15 combo amp. The kit new I think is under $300.00 Playing with no effects, and Dead RotoSound strings. I need a new set, they are usually very bright and punchy.

Enjoy!

  • Too much caffeine and next time hold the Mexican jumping beans in your burrito!

  • @432ps1 You should have seen my initial recordings of this one. Ha ha. Talk about caffeine! thanks for watching.

  • sounds awesome, but put a badass 2 and emg actives on it! ;-)

  • @Whitemoon379 Thanks for watching and the suggestion!

If I did all that I wanted to this bass of course it would sound better, but I've decided to not upgrade (expensive) stuff for a few reasons.

The money that I save is going into the next bass fund.

Also, I figure a good player can make any instrument sound good, and that takes a lot of skill. Just a guess, but if I can make this one sound good, I'm sure I'll be able to make a more quality instrument sound good.

I should get a setup though.

  • lol @ cat 3:15

  • @marc137 Yeah, its funny, we have 3. They usually run for cover but lately they've been hanging out when I play. I think they are RUSH fans now.

  • @XschlickX thank you. It's so much fun. Down the road I hope to upgrade my setup and really get that sound dialed in, but I'm glad you like it. Don't forget to check out my other vids and tell all your friends! Ha ha.

  • dude, that sounds AWESOME.... seriously! your tone is great

so iss that smile you constantly keep on your face. THUMBS UP!!!

  • @panchokoman Thanks. Equipment details are in the info, but I found that "technique" had more to do with sound than anything. Check out TJH3113 and duilkin and other vids on my channel. These guys, much like Geddy,... its all in the fingers. One of the most-fun vids that I put up was "Between The Wheels" by RUSH. What a kick-ass song, so much fun.

  • Thanks. Yes, I'm having the time of my life. Haven't had much time to record new stuff lately but I've been on a Roger Waters / Pink Floyd kick lately. We might see some of that soon, I'm getting antsey. I'd give anything up to hit that last note right ha ha.
