That has nothing to do with Sonic Adventure 2. SA2's release was imminent and it was only a matter of time for SEGA to officially reveal this. We all knew it was coming. Hence their inclusion of that ironic trailer statement, and screen caps of every major website to report an all-but-confirmed conclusiveness.

I doubt they were. What gives away that they were? The "mysterious" music from SA2 was playing, they had a dramatic triple dots, I'm pretty sure Sega's being egotistical here.
