Short video of the unpublished(but 100% finished) game Return Fire for Sega Saturn. Released 2007/04/12 by sega-saturn.net.

More Info and Download:

Quote from sega-saturn.net:
"Already released on the 3DO and PlayStation the Action game Return Fire™ was shortly before its appearance on the SEGA Saturn.
But there were problems with the japanese version of the game, as the commentary of the Producer Prolific shows:

The game was finished for the Sega Saturn.

At about that time, Hitachi made a Saturn system that was not 100% compatible with Sega's, and the game did not run correctly on it.

We were asked to make the changes which would allow it to run on the "HI-Saturn," and after a bit of back-and-forth, we even received a loaner HI-Saturn test system. But, did not do this work because the project was stopped because the publisher did not believe the Saturn was going to make it. The Saturn version of Return Fire was therefore never manufactured on "protected" CDs and therefore never released."

"In the beginning of 2003 I did a reasearch on unreleased Saturn games.
Amongst others I found this game uncleared if it was released or not. Some said they have played it on their Saturn, some said this is impossible.
To get a nearly perfect software list for my site I started to contact the producer Prolific, who proofed me, that the game was never released for the SEGA Saturn, as the statement above shows.
After many more emails they sent me a copy from their cellar.
First the game was not running, but with the help of a friend called printf it worked finally.
First I dreamed of a real game with real packaging, professionally printed covers, manual, etc. at cost price, but I´m still waiting for a permission by Prolific as their lawyers are pretty slow.
And to this day they are not finished. I tried it many times (amongst others with a Petition), but now I think it´s time to give this more than 10year old game to the fans for their loving system.

Thanks to:

James J. Host (Lead Programmer Saturn version) and Reichart Kurt von Wolfsheild (Creator/Designer/Producer) (both Prolific)
The Saturn Programmers known as printf and antime for helping me to get the game running
The members of SegaXtreme and neXGam boards for their support and help"

Opening Music: Verdi's "Dies Irae"

Music Ingame: Gustav Holst's Mars from The Planets

Thanks to Mr. Saturn for finally releasing the game!

  • @realcatgirllover What; and the 3DO was going to make it?

  • @realcatgirllover I'm not getting how to play this on my Saturn. I have the download, but I don't understand I guess how to properly put it on a disc to play it. I have a back up cart for my Saturn that allows me to play imported games, will it not let me play this type of file or disc? Could that be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • @bartotainment wow, u are the person that bought the 3DO?

  • I have been looking for this game forever. All i could remember was that when you blew up a building or turret the base of the building looked like a waffle. I begged for this game forever.

  • No this isnt mass destruction, I think mass destruction looks better than this, I mean the massive explosions and destructable scenery made the game really fun to play. Never saw a helicopter in mass destruction either. I hate it when they can games, alot of good stuff has never made it.

  • es identico al "mass destruction", is identical to mass destruction, the style playing, and the engine.
