Second video. First was muted, and I don't feel like arguing that I gave full sound credit to the artists. Anyway, I'll put a more appropriate description in later when I have more time.
Basics:
1) Nutrition: When cutting weight, the hardest part is keeping muscle when losing all that fat. An easy solution is a simple one: don't gain too much fat to begin with. Eating slightly more than you burn off is just as effective as eating 4,000 calories more than you burn off when it comes to gaining muscle. Also, if you are trying to cut and think your workout is solid but still can't lose weight, the problem is -- 9 times out of 10 -- your diet. Write down an average day. If you usually have one doughnut a week and one pizza a week (even on separate days), add them both in to your "average day." Better safe than sorry.
2) Lifting: To burn more fat, stick to compound lifts (lifts that involve more than one joint; no, preacher curls don't count). I mean squats, power cleans, power snatches (feel free to giggle at the word "snatch"), pullups, etc. To build more muscle, think like a power lifter; use and abuse deadlift, bench press, squats, pullups, and pretty much anything that uses more than 10 pound dumbbells. And if you can't bench your own bodyweight, don't worry about isolation lifts (cable crossovers, for example). Obviously, if you way over 250 pounds, this rule can be bent a bit, but only so far.
You don't really need to be anal about how to eat or know everything about lifting and/or nutrition, but you should stick to 90% of the stuff that's proven to work. And I'm not talking about muscle magazines and their "tested to work!!!11!!!@@!!!" slogans. Most before and after pictures are doctored. That being said, I will personally endorse 3 products: Hot Rox Extreme, Tribex Gold, and Metabolic Drive. The first helped me lose weight (don't use it if you'll just sit on the couch all day, I don't want you bashing it when it doesn't work). The second helped me gain muscle (and they both stack well together). The third is award winning, and tastes amazing for a protein shake. Those of you who still use GNC's protein know how bad it tastes. All of which can be bought online, free 3-day shipping. I use t-nation . com 's shop page, though I'm sure there are other sites out there, but I can't guarantee on the shipping deal.
Update: I won't take any person(s) to personally teach. I'll give advice, most of which is really good advice, but I'm not going to risk teaching someone through youtube. Let's face it, personal trainers take huge risks to their credibility by working through the internet. T-Nation tried it once, with professional trainers, they hand-picked their trainees, and even then one guy got cut halfway through it due to a lack of discipline. I simply don't know any of you well enough to know if you'd stick it out, or how you truly eat / work out; it's too easy to lie online. I can't risk you failing due to your own issues then blaming me; my advice is pretty solid, and your attacks at my knowledge / credibility would only be hurting a lot of people who could use my advice.
Best of luck to anyone trying to turn their physical life around. Remember: fitness isn't a hobby, it's a lifestyle. People who treat it as a hobby are the kind of people who go in and out of shape every year like Oprah.
shut the fuck up

@godfreesandiego I probably should have explained this better; this video is the first of a series. This one only introduces who I am and explains that I'm here for questions. The rest of my videos explain how to change your body.
Though given your intense desire to just rip on other people, I don't think you're the kind of person who can commit to the grueling experience of losing weight. It's hard, unlike making fun of someone through a computer. Prove me wrong. ;)

everyone gets doms if they work hard enough

@TheDrewpdog True, but I'd like to add something to what you said.
If you work out really hard cold - coming back from vacation, taking a few weeks off, etc - you're more likely to get DOMS. If you come back and ease into your workouts with moderate lifting the first week and gradually get back to heavy lifting, along with ample amounts of stretching, etc, you should notice much less soreness. I do, at least, and I learned these tips online so I *assume* that others are the same :)

@TheDrewpdog I take back what I said about stretching, and I'm putting this in my next video as well. Go to T-Nation . com and look up The Contreras Files: Volume II by Bret Contreras – 1/17/2012. The first article there tells how stretching doesn't help/hurt DOMS at all. Backed by scientific studies, apparently.
