In The Expository Genius of John Calvin, Dr. Steven J. Lawson delves into the practices, commitments, and techniques that made John Calvin, the great Reformer of the sixteenth century, such an effective preacher during his long pastorate at Saint Pierre Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Lawson identifies thirty-two distinctives of Calvin's preaching, providing comments from Calvin's writings, quotations from Reformation scholars, and examples from Calvin's own sermons to reinforce his points. In the end, Dr. Lawson finds in Calvin a strong model for expository preaching and calls on modern pastors to follow the Reformer's example.

I attend a conservative Presbyterian college where I hear things like "You may be saved, but just barely," "Calvinism is Christianity," "America needs to reconnect with its Puritan heritage," and "Arminianism is humanistic Papist heresy" on a regular basis, so I didn't catch it. Pretty sad when the satire is so difficult to distinguish from the real thing. :P

Well, I will admit that was a bit of a trojan horse, in fact a little sarcastic in a way. My intention was to open the eyes of calvinists but that doesnt seem possible at times. I try so hard to show them that calvins "theory" was false, so I thought I would try to seem as though I was supporting the heresy while showing them those scriptures. False teachers secretly creep in and distort the real truth, So I thought I would play their own game =D

Romans 5 proves UN-limited atonement, and Hebrews 6 proves that Christians CAN lose their salvation -- the precise opposite of what you are asserting. Keep drinking that Reformed Kool-Aid, brother.

    Fools, indeed.

Luther would have considered Calvin a damnable heretic.

For all those who reject calvinism are fools, you need to read for yourselves, T.U.L.I.P of Calvinism, this is the truth. Nothing in the scriptures can refute calvinism.
