The video you are about to watch was made in 1995, performed by William a student of Maggie Newman who was a student of the late Professor Cheng Man Ching. This is not an instructional video. It is a performance for all practitioners to enjoy. The goal for William is to impart and share the knowledge with other practitioners with the same interest and that is to spread Tai Chi Chuan to the rest of the world. Enjoy.

  • Really good work here, pleasure to watch.....1995???? what is William doing now , would be v interesting for a post of his present day form.I was taught by Jan Kauskas, who was taught by Mr Lowenthal.Really nice to see students of those who had direct experience of "Whiskers Man".I only have knowledge of Maggie Newman through references from Mr Lowenthal and my readings of Mr Robert Smith , but if William is anything to judge by ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @ByronVortex I am doing just fine and still practicing T'ai Chi Ch'uan. Thank you for viewing the video. I am currently working on a new video to post. Time does change the body, although the mind remains vibrant and alert. Again, thank you.

  • Thank you for the video. I wonder if you could tell me what the thinking is about doing the form on the left side.

You know, instead of beginning with ward off right, you do ward off left and continue with all the moves on the opposite side.

  • Thank You, Sferemonk. To answer your question, I was taught the form this way. That is why you see the form from one side. However, this does not mean you can not do the mirror image of the form (opposite side). It really sits with the student to determine whether if they wish to do the form from the left or the right. It really does not matter, but this may be viewed by others differently. If you are able to do the form from both sides, that is great! The benefits are equal.

  • Excellent form! I am also currently studying this form and your patient practice is apparent in this video!

  • Maggie Newman, a senior fellow student during the five years that I studied with Professor Cheng, was a close observer of the Professor's form. It is no wonder, then, that her student (William ?), represents the Professor's taiji form so well. Maggie's student does her great credit, even as she does great credit to the Professor. And so it passes down through the ages....
