This is a taste of life in South Africa for people who live in townships. This is the Langa township, a 'suburb' of Cape Town, and the oldest black township in South Africa. Notice the communal bathrooms and the stores that have been set up in the area. While there is running water and electricity in this township, there are no showers and conditions are less than sanitary for the thousands of people who reside there. It is estimated that 5 MILLION people live in townships across South Africa.
