I have a 1983 944 non-turbo sitting in my garage in need of plenty repairs. The only good thing is that it still ran but that was at least 2 years ago. It needs a lot, including sunroof and center console gauges to be installed.

with that many miles I would have replaced/refurbished the whole top end.

That was awesome! I really admire your ingenuity and creativeness! I used to own a 85.0 944, and those parts are very expensive. You are worth your weight in gold!

if anybody could watch my video of my 944S and help me out with my problem i would much appreciate it , i have no idea what the problem is but iam getting a knocking/ticking sound from the engine , and it runs very poorly , any sort of help would be great
I'd gladdly wait 3 months for my 944 to be road ready!! GReat Work!
I left my 944 with a mechanic for a trans job; he had it for 10 months. Got it back and still needed $3K more work; bad differential. Got that fixed, then discovered I had a bad torque converter. Got that fixed to have my wife blow the engine on the Hwy; now needs a valve job. Headache after headache. My wife hates my car, but I love it. Howevver, I need a new mechanic.
May have to take it up to Santa Clarita this time.

@muzkat101 I feel with you! The engine problem happened to me short time after I bought the car. My wife was very angry ... Meanwhile the car and I had better times. We traveled twice from Germany to Greece and back, each trip about 5000 km without problems. You may see the videos in the channel here.

@fabio964r Hello, after the crash it is difficult to say what caused it. The engine had 182000 km and I have a bill from Porsche, that at 160000km the inspection has been made. In principle the 1600000 service includes a check of the tensioner. I guess that the upper pad have been guilty. At least the rests I found support this thesis. Generally, I would propose to renew the pads every 800000 km and to renew the chain every 1600000 km. A worn chain kills slowly the cogs on the camshaft.
