  • i am lookin into playing bass any suggestions as to wht brand i should get to begin with and is it unheard of ppl starting to learn first on a 5 string bass?want to start playing in church

  • @klucgotbeats Brand really depends on the sound you want to hear. Fender is a pretty solid company when it comes to making basses. You could start there. No its not unheard of to start with a 5 string bass. It's a matter of preference, I would say if you eventually want to play a 5 string bass, why not start there. :)

    I personally prefer 5 over 4.

  • thanks for the tips and really breakin it down even tho i been playing for almost two years i still need help of course

  • Appreciate the lessons. I'm a guitar player and really digging the lesson. Great job!

I like the point you made about up and down, it's simple but can be confusing when you're starting out.

  • you american cats love learning dats why yous are the BEST

  • @Torch7 thanks doc

  • @COGICSticks Depending on the type of strings you use... stainless steel, round wound strings are notoriuos for eating away at your tips. You get used to it after a while. Also try changing the amount of pressure you hold down the string with. It doesn't take that much force to fret a note. That could possibly relieve some of the issues with your finger tips.
