I might just send this video to all my friends who tell me they feel sorry that I don't go to public school because "I don't have the freedom and chance to socialize with other kinds of people in homeschool".

Now all I can think about is that bit in Mean Girls where Cady talks about homeschooled kids...

I had a lot of these misconceptions until one of my friends told me he was homeschooled and he's also one of the most outgoing people I know.

Ugh, I still get questions from people who have never been homeschooled that are exactly like this. Especially "You didn't have a lot of friends huh?" or "Is that why you're shy now" and the last one I think "No, I'm shy now because of public school and by being surrounded by assholes (my first public school wasn't very kind)...

If you're stuck in a building 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, you're doing it wrong.

No, actually, you don't. I mean, depending on where you are the laws are different, but in a lot of places it's only as strict as getting someone to check up on how the education is going now and then, checking the parent's planned curriculum, and so forth. As long as you keep a few records lying around somewhere, they really don't care.
