A quick look at my '86 E-150 van. I am the original owner. This was the first new truck I bought. I remember the thrill of driving it home only to discover it didn't fit in the garage. Luckily after resetting the door opener limit it just barely fit in.

  • Do you still have this van 4 sale?

  • @JosephCarapucci68 I decided to keep it. still looks nice now, see the more recent videosof it on my channel.

  • Love the van. Shows you took care of it. What is involved to rust proof a vehicle?

  • @JungleListSoldier sorry, I just saw this comment now. they wash the underside if it's not brand new, then drill a series of 1/4" holes in the hidden areas of the body. a product is sprayed in/on that turns semi solid to all under body areas and in the cavities. this includes inside the doors and fenders. recent years these dealers have closed up since most people won't spend the money for this process and cars are built with more rust resistant materials. done right it pays off tho.

  • @chatrkat, well i guess im lucky, i didnt know that about the paint, i just know it looks great after a good wax

  • @dvndvdsn1 mine has never had anything but non-abrasive wax on the finish. never through a car wash either, always hand washed. it still shines very nice when waxed. BTW I wish I lived in your state, Illinois sucks out loud! ...besides the winters snow and salt.

  • As a "van guy" the choice would be easy for me. Get rid of one of the pickups. Everybody has a pickup...not everyone has a van as nice as that one.

  • I'm serious it really is a nice truck

my moms company uses E250 extened version

I very fond of the econoline

  • @dvndvdsn1 you're lucky, here in IL the salt destroys cars. very few of these vans still exist. mine was thoroughly rust-proofed. that and an staying out of the snow has preserved it very well, but the body has a couple little spots showing rust now. the underside is very good but I still had to replace the oil pan a few years ago. ...that was expensive! in 1986 no clear coat either.

  • @chatrkat i live in san antonio, no snow here. not much of a rust issue with this thing either. whoever had it before me didnt care for it, but the clearcoat is still intact, and all of the important stuff underneath is solid

  • @dvndvdsn1 I like this body style Econoline. Mine still looks like it does in the video, but I recently had a Walker exhaust system installed from the converter back. The mileage is still under 50k right now. It starts and drives like the day I drove it home from the Ford dealer in '86. Good luck with yours. If you live anywhere there's snow, check the oil pan, they rust through!

  • wow, i have one almost just like that its a 1980 and its the extended, but mine has the swingout side doors. its nowhere near that nice but im fixing it up, i bought it in january for $400. runs great right now
