In which our intrepid musician reviews the excellent mainland mahogany tenor with the glossy finish. Comments welcome, of course.

And I allude to two other songs in the video just to show off.

  • Is it really ONE solid hunk of wood. Or multiple solid hunks put together. To the best of my knowledge they get the top and back and sides and neck seperately and glue them together

  • @ohmysparticus Most ukuleles are put together as you have said. This one is not like that. Honest.

  • HELP PLEASE!!!! I ordered a mainland ukulele and the day its suppose to arrive is a day that no one will be home....does it require a signature to receive the package or will they just leave it in front of the door?

  • @xbox360haha123456

I'm the wrong person to ask. I don't work for Mainland.

Call them. 812-988-6760. Found their number on the internet.

  • The word "solid" as in "solid mahogany" in ukulele construction doesn't mean it was made from one piece of wood. It means it is not made of plywood (laminate).

The Mainland ukes are made of multiple pieces of solid mahogany. Most cheaper ukuleles are made from laminate, with perhaps a solid top. Solid woods resonate better than laminates, but laminates respond less to changing weather and low humidity.

  • Actually, the word "solid" with regard to wood instruments refers to the fact that it's not made from laminate (plywood). Mainland ukes are made from several pieces of solid wood. Cheaper ukes are often made from plywood, or they have a solid wood top with laminate sides and back.
