On July 19, 2009, my wife and I joined several members of Ohio Valley Camera Club (OVCC) to photograph people hand-feeding hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park (www.lakehopestatepark.com) in southeastern, Ohio. This was the third year for me and the second for my wife. There weren't as many hummers this year, so it took a bit more persistence, but that persistence paid off well. The video was shot with a Canon PowerShot SX1 IS at 1920x1080p. The SX1 IS has a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 28-560mm, and most of this was shot at or near the max end of the telephoto range. I'm very happy with the video and sound quality this camera produces, but since there was little audio of interest in these clips, I subdued it considerably.
The feeders are a flower holder vial filled with sugar water (4 parts water to 1 part sugar). This year they do this from 1-3pm each Wednesday through Sunday from June 24 to August 30. Try it! Odds are, you'll have fun. ;-)
Feeding those hummers looked like a real crowd-pleaser! :-) Thanks for the show!

I may just plan a trip down there one of these days. It looks like fun! That red jacket that kid was wearing sure looked like it helped him out to attract those Hummers.
