Visit http://www.recordonline.com for more West Point videos/photos/articles. The Class of 2012 conducted a 12-mile road march from Camp Buckner to West Point Monday morning to cap off Cadet Basic Training before the academic school year begins. Proud parents and relativies, including the Olmes family from Pennslyvania, lined the streets of West Point to cheer for their sons and daughters.
I was in a Marchback class of '81. Trust me, the March back itself was the least of my worries. My biggest fear was that there would be at least 10 times the upperclassmen waiting for us when we got back! Those were the days when hazing wasn't allowed... it was expected!

I give you your props for doing 23 miles. However, just because you did it does not make 12 miles any easier. I can do 23 miles as well.

Yes, it's all fun and games until you "column, half-left, march" in front of the Supe's house onto the Apron...of course, disembarking in Iraq or Afghanistan isn't much fun either. The mental foreboding is eerily similar. Enjoy.
