It is remarkable but not uncommon. Check out this one:

This sword was made in the late 11th century and due to its purpose as a ceremonial sword it survived until today in a excellent state of preservation. Or the famous St. Maurice sword of Turin - according to Peter Johnsson it is not only perfectly preserved you can even sharpen a pencil with it, it is still sharp enough fo that!

  • @TheJapaneseSword this main man speaking has tried to assimilate into Japanese society. I don't think the majority of the Japanese would accept him into their culture. Is it possible to be a white man and still be able to obtain the essence of Japan and be accepted by the people? Is not the Samurai sprit one that lies beyond race and rests in eternal truth and being? This is what I ask the Japanese.

  • How wonderful that we few can be so fortuate to witness these splendours...

  • When I heard him say "Around the end of the 12th century," my jaw absolutely dropped.

It is remarkable that such an outstanding piece of history is in that kind of condition especially given the incredible length of time the sword has seen, truly remarkable.
