  • People used to tell me that I looked like him.

  • still a great song

  • nice old song

  • @DixT1 Coming out kind of ended his career tho.... the last thing the record company wants is for all the adoring female fans to stop buying his records... that's how people responded back then unfortunately...

  • He was an icon of the 50's! I always loved this song. He was a "troubled" singer---lots of emotional problems---but a great singer. I remember his time on Ed Sullivan!!! I believe he was gay---and very misunderstood in his time.

  • funny but I never saw this guy before...heard his name a couple of times but as a baby boomer I'm surprised I haven't seem more of this supposed icon

  • woauuuuuuuuu thanks man this magic i am 40 and i never thought i was going to see this guy in the peek of his caree thanks a lot

  • @kumatosky Ummm...copyright, maybe? :D This video performance is available on DVD, though.

  • Thanks for posting this, I hope there is more, I just love Johnnie,, he makes you feel really good inside, a true artist and human being! God bless !!

  • He was before Elvis he started the whole vocal revolution. He was so ahead of his time, it boggles the mine. Altho I never hear how he changed the whole way a song was performed. When the radio's began playing "CRY" I was working in a record store.

We couldnt find it on the billboard charts where all the music was listed back then.

because it was listed under Country on okeh label which was columbia bastard label. Well needless to say the rest was history....
