  • Please confirm the diagnosis. It is worth trying Cortisone injection. If it fails, surgery can cure your problem. Good luck

  • So, does the thumb bend correctly after this surgery & how long does it take to heal? Nearly three years after retiring from a career of grueling physical labor, using heavy air powered tools repetitiously, etc. I developed a trigger thumb after memorial day 2009. It doesn't want to correct itself. So I'll be looking for a qualified hand surgeon; I just hope the surgery here is successful, & the thumb works just like new.

  • Surgery is straight forward and very rewarding.

  • Thanks for posting this. My son is having this surgery in the near future and it makes me feel a *little* better to have an idea of what they will be doing to him.

  • An update: im going to have this operation on my thumb on 29/9/11. A1 pully release.

  • @Houseitch Hello i just read that you have Trigger Thumb, i have developed it too! Its been about 5 weeks for me know. If not placed in a splint my top thumb joint bends downwards and stays there. Its very painful to get it back up. Loss of strength in the hand and very painful as well. How did you get on with your Thumb???? Thanks Paul.

  • Got my surgery yesterday at noon and it is 9 am and I am at working typing this..

This time was my right thumb. 9 months ago I had my left thumb down. It is a very very easy surgery. I love being rid of that painful click . My doctor was Dr. Shamash in Mahwah, NJ. He is a great doctor

  • Done 4 hours ago. I am feeling great and can already type.

  • wuts the use of this anyway?

  • I had this surgery done after shots of cortizone and different types of therapy. Only i had it on my middle finger. It was very rewarding when a good surgeon does it. The only thing is i can see the tendon come out when i move my middle finger simply because they remove what the doctors refer to as the "pulley" the tendon rides in. Bothers me once in a while when i squeeze something hard but its alot better that it was.
