Author Frank Schaeffer discusses his personal view of the Holy Scriptures in these excerpts from a talk he gave about a book he wrote. The speech was given June 24, 2011.

Frank still claims to be a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church. However, his heretical and blasphemous opinions of the Holy Scriptures do not represent the teaching of Orthodox Christianity.

ON FALLEN HUMAN REASONING

He is part of the body of the Christ who are shaken and torn by what is going on in politics in the name of religion and in the name of Christ. Do not disregard his anger whether it is right or wrong. Many Jesus loving Bible believing Christians are just as fed up as he is.

The posting of this video seems well done. And also the vss of Matthew you inserted in the beginning. Well done! I was astonished, when I heard Frank ranting, if I may use this word. HIs fierce, personal attacks against those whom he considers his opponents and his misrepresentation of the Gospel cannot be accepted, if you have a sane mind. Frank started with this after the death of his father. His dear mother, Edith, is still alive; for her the whole thing must have been utter tragedy.

This man has always been raging against something. For a while it was liberalism. Then it was Protestantism. Now it's this. He's the one that needs to look behind the words. I can see no peace.

It couldn't be that "fallen Human Reasoning" might also be in effect in our appropriation of the Scriptures? Couldn't be that God never intended the kind of idolatrous authority to be given not to the Bible (which is claimed) but to our own authoritative interpretation of it? To throw around words like "compete fraud" here re: Frank is to compltely miss the point he makes about the impact of his mother on his eventual personal faith. You people need to learn just a bit more humility.

@NixonisLord Yea, Frank is a complete fraud. He always tells everybody in his articles how he'll be in church "this Sunday" but I guess the priests who administer the eucharist to him don't know that he is out on the streets preaching damnable heresy according to the Orthodox Church.

So I guess he's not really Orthodox anymore since they're even more anti women's ordination than the Catholics and Mormons? How about re-marriage for priests after their wives die? Or wives for bishops? How about women visiting Mount Athos? This man has changed his mind so often that he's started to believe only himself. This is another reason why I don't bother with religion. Why bother with something that makes you rant and rave and do stupid things and costs you money? Why bother?
