You're here, you're gone
I'm still hangin' on
This game ain't nothin' new
You've changed your mind
So many times
But I'm still in love with you
I'll think it over when you're walkin' out the door
Why'd you go and leave me sad and blue
And if you knew
What I go through
You'd think it over too

I hope someday
I'll find a way
I'll walk right out on you
Til that day comes
I'm still the one
If you should need a fool

  • @audimanpov Yes, the style is so Buddy Holly, you can't miss it. I also read in one of SE's bios that one producer who approached him was all about one of his songs that sounded much like Elvis's style, but was not too interested in the material that sounded like Steve Earle! What a fool! :(

  • ho! rock on my friend!!!

  • this song helped me to think before i acted

  • I finally found this song!! Had the album many moons ago in my youth in an urban UK city. Lost the tape but many of the songs would just come into my head through the years.

    >Embarrassing Admission Alert< For years I thought this was George Straight and wondered why it didn't show up on any search engines. ...........It's enough to say.....I am a Country novice.

  • Can't get this song outta my head, if Buddy Holly had wrote it it would be as famous as 'Heartbeat'. Steve Earle is a genius, every one of his songs tells a story, beer, girls, cars, love and heartache. Don't know how he does it but every track is a winner, I'd put him on a par with Chuck Berry for songwriting, most people haven't heard of Steve Earle and that's a real shame cos he's a legend in our lifetime.

  • Outstanding! Thanks!

  • New appreciation for this tune... just tried learning it on guitar... not too hard... then tried singing it while playing it... easy, but not as good as Steve... trying to do it like Steve... can't. Hats off Mr. Stevie Earle of 1985!

  • Great Song!
