Zambian Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, who created a scandal after he got married and ordained bishops without the popes permission has been officially dismissed of his clerical office and function, meaning he is no longer a priest.

The Vatican made the announcement today after years of trying to bring Milingo back into communion with the church.

He made headlines in 2001, when he married a south Korean woman and was later excommunicated in 2006 after he ordained 4 bishops without permission.

Dismissing a cleric from the Church is the most extraordinary form of disciplinary action.

  • @Menechem Have you ready 1 Cor. 6:13 and understand the whole content of 1 Cor. 7:1-40. Read before you push your teaching. The Lord Jesus Christ is the high priest and model, so every priest must follow the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 3:1-13, you are too literal, you don't understand what you are reading.

  • @dacatholicbandorgan hahahaha yeah right? crazy schismatics!!!

  • I don't know what the problem is. I know its against the law, but why? If one studies church history, one will see married Popes, Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Priests. in the eastern rite, they have married clergy. Anglican Priests are a;oud to serve as Roman Priests upon ordination and conversion. If one reads and studies Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-13), it was decreed that A Bishop is to be husband of one wife, an Elder, and a Deacom the same.

  • It was just and fair. he broke his vows not just physically but his promise to God when he was ordained a priest. what a shame

  • That's what you get when you try to take the Church to obscure countries like that in Afrika. Well, Zambia is in Afrika, isn't it?

  • @lee2575 This is his trick of justifying his lust and his eagerness to marry and his craze for sex

  • @LockjawVideo 1 Timothy 3:2 say The presiding elder must be blameles, the husband of one wife........and not like you say "the bishop must be blameless, husband of one wife........ There is no word bishop there in the bible but the presiding elder. Don't simply write anything.

  • This Bishop has committed an unpardonable sin Against his clerical office and the Holy Mother Church for Marrying and for performing the sacred sacrament of Ordination to the Bishopric Office without the Holy Father's permission and thus, it is so proper to dismiss him from any clerical performances and excommunicate him.

  • So... you can't get married but you can abuse little boys... yeah, I get that.

  • To the question, 'Are there men of the curia who are followers of Satan?' Milingo responded, 'Certainly there are priests and bishops. I stop at this level of ecclesiastical hierarchy because I am an archbishop, higher than this I cannot go.' Milingo cited papal statements to back up his charges. 'Paul VI said that the smoke of Satan had entered into the Vatican'
