I don't get this, Why is this a big deal?IF this is such a big deal, then why not just shut down youtube? Most of the people's vids on here are ''music'' video or a song with lyrics on the screen. Most of the ones I have seen always cite the song, and artist in a link to Amazon or iTunes. I just don't get it.

how is it theft if you brought an album or song and upload it on youtube?

@Xcoming2 How is it theft when you would never buy it? Stupid companies think that people who pirate things would of bought it, but in reality it's very untrue.

@SmokingEssy7887 We actually created a YouTube channel that takes the music for a “test drive” to see if there are any infringement claims. These are ALL Creative Commons By-Attribution… There shouldn’t be any claims, yet there are. We’ve now converted our Channel (TheMusicRack) into a download resource for YouTubers that want to download pre-screened background music and we provide the links. I invite you and others to comment on our channel

many of these companies have their OWN channels here on you tube. They can play it,,,let some one download it....not buy dvd....but if YOU DO IT......no good!

@Xcoming2 um hello, in case you havent read youtubes RIDICULOUS copyright policy, it states that you may own the cd itself but you dont own the rights to the music. im not taking youtubes side here, im just telling you.

Do you know when copyright laws were first introduced? I've always thought it was in the early 1900's, am I right?

@SmokingEssy7887 Actually, copyright law goes back at least as far as 1709 in Britain, although some printers claimed monopolies over certain works well before that. In the US, copyright law is as old as the nation and is written into Article I, Section 8, Clause 8, of our Constitution: "To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries."

@TheRealPinkMenace Wow, I thought I was mocking the lawyer asshole too. The thing is, that character is right as far as what the law is. But the law is made by our representatives, and it's time for it to change. At this time our laws (not just copyright, but a whole range of issues) favor corporations over humans. Yes, that's the law. But it doesn't always need to be that way. If you don't like the law, you get active. Change the law. That's MY point of view.
