This video documents crowd control techniques military police learned at Fort Belvoir in the 1970s. Scenes include demonstrators milling about in the street, carrying signs, sticks, and bricks, and shouting. They sit down in the street. Many are hippie-types. Riot squad policemen advance down the street past mock-up shop fronts. The crowd of demonstrators moves toward them. Demonstrators overturn cars and set them on fire. MPs wearing shields, gas masks, and holding bayoneted M-16 rifles advance through the smoke. Some carry fire extinguishers and M-79 grenade launchers. Women bang on the hood of an M-151 jeep and shout at the MP and policeman in the jeep. The policeman uses a spray to make them back off.
Bless you riot police; save us from those hippy peaceniks and afro-sporting black radicals!
