  • Cool.... Always wanted to see that! I live RIGHT next door to this massive hole! Never heard or felt a blast though... Why would that be?

  • Hi mate. Sorry its taken so long for me to reply. Guess I have been stupidly busy. Glad you like the clip. To answer your question, the blasting is controlled so that the affects are minimal. Each blast is calculated to use only the bare minimum of charge required and what with the authorities environmental policy, the quarry has to be very mindful of the affect it has on the surrounding area. Gone are the days where rocks could be propelled into neighbouring villages. lol

  • I see. Its hard to appreciate all the hard work that goes into a blast... I just had visions of setting a fuse alight and legging it lol! What part of the quarry do you work in then?

  • I use to work for the Technical dept there, but now I have moved on to a supervisor job in Peterborough for the same company. I do miss working there as Bardon is the flag ship for AI in the UK. There is a lot of hype about that, although it is somewhat too political a place. Yeh, so tell me how the DJing is goin? I saw that you have worked at the Emporium. What new things are happening with that?

  • I work at the quarry and was able to obtain this video from a friend. I am often able to see the blasting from the observation area. It is quite an awesome sight to see, so I thought I would share it with the world!!

  • Cool, Bardon is so cool and I have great view of it from my house

  • i go mountainboarding on bardon hill :-)

  • i work at ulverscroft near markfield, and you could pretty much set your watch when they were blasting, you can feel the tremours and hear the noise, by the way there is alot of outcrop of granite so im thinking the tremours travel through the strata of these outcrops,

  • The Djin is goin really well at the minute- more of a producer now days though. Got an album coming out in july so cant wait for that. The last I heard is that the emporium was going to be flattened to make way for flats and homes... it wouldnt be missed though as its really gone down hill recently. It used to be the best place on earth but its died a miserable death. :-(
