I recorded this video for UkuleleIgor because we both are struggling through mastering this song. He wasn't so confident in his performance so I thought I would put myself up here struggling though this piece. I definitely had the red light syndrome going for me because I have some nice flubs. I then go into another Roy Smeck tune called Music Box Waltz. I find both tunes compliment each other.

  • out of beat!!

  • @jimkanuk I would hope that if someone was to be so kind as to give me some sort of feedback that A) it would be longer then 3 words and B) they would use correct musical terminology when describing one of my flaws. A "beat" is a measurement of time. Adding beats makes up a measure, time sequence (aka tempo) or a rhythm. If anything I am off rhythm or straying from tempo. To compare to a unit of time you're telling me that I am out of second. ...

  • @jimkanuk ... If you actually took the time to read the description that I left, you would see in no way did I indicate mastery of this performance. Please, if you will, post your attempt.

  • I'm amazed this only has 144 views! I think you actually did really well, particularly as you say you were having a hard time mastering the song. Lovely bit of playing. The tough part of the Music Box Waltz is maintaining the tempo, for me anyway, and getting it right is so very difficult. Lightnin wells is the only one I've seen hit it on the head, but to be honest, you really did an excellent job. Bravo!

  • @julianmartin10 thanks you for the kind compliments. I only took a few takes on this and I found it funny how nervous I was in front of the mic. I have been in front with so many other musical instruments it should have been natural. I am much more confident with the song now, perhaps I will post a new one.

  • Nice job. How long has it taken you to work this up? I haven't had the courage to try it yet, myself!

  • @MrJellyrollBaker it took me a fair bit of noodling time. I would say on and off again for about 2 months. I love playing this tune and it is fun modifying it.

  • @BrockOLeigh do it!!!

is it a koaloha ukulele by the way? lovely sound to it, but I see you must have some sort of music room there!

still, look forward to more ukulele from you, you're a talented player!

  • Well done mister! Magic waltz is not easy tune and to make it sound nice will take some serious practise, but it´s fun to play, so it will come.. You´re in right direction, but it take some more hours from both of us.

Music Box- part was nice as well, i must try that someday too..

    ***** from Igor
