Allied Waste
The Value of Landfills
- it gets harder every year to open a new landfill

- 8 megawatt, 5000 homes

52 landfill gas-to-energy projects underway

- The emission reduction achieved by Allied Wastes current projects nationwide is equal to
- removing approximately 2.6 million vehicles from the road each year
- providing heat/power to approximately 240,000 homes
- or receiving the benefits of planting 3.7 million acres of trees
- 53 recycling plants nationwide
- diverts the usual recycleables as well as bricks and construction waste

The Process
