why would you set a device's IP in the same range as DHCP? what if the DHCP server hands out that same IP, you get an IP conflict on your network

Just ask your DVR supplier. He knows what to do and probably your router too. At least Dekape.nl does! This service is for free! By the way: an AV-Tech DVR just requires 1 port to be forwarded for your complete dvr utilities...

me and my friend are trying to play a game and i play on a laptop while my desktop is downstairs and the keyboard is broken, do i need to port forward if i already made a server for the game to play without hamachi?
For your Routers username & password, please look at the manual that came with the device, or look on the botton, or Type the model number in Google with the words 'password'
