MALSEJ GHATS- on original highway between Mumbai and Poona

Malsej ghats - now a destination for picknics on week ends / holidays - was once on the only route from Bombay to Poona , till the shorter and faster route via Lonavala was developed. Malsej is a beautiful place with layers of green hills, numerous waterfalls and eye soothing scenery where ever you look. There is sparse traffic though the highway leads to Poona and Ahmednagar.
