Exercises for training your lip (embouchure) muscles for trumpet or any other brass instruments. Includes instructions on doing the pencil exercise and advice on making your own embouchure training device.

Addendum: When I said "vertically" I should have said "horizontally". You need to keep the pencil straight.

  • Does this work for euphonium players?

  • @BOOMDIGIDYable It tightens the corner muscles so yes it will have an effect. I used to play the euphonium, long before I played the trumpet.

because that burn you feel is lactic acid and if you don't work it out of your muscles, then it will not be nearly as effective and you can get painful muscle spasms.

  • These are great excercises, they seem to work. You ought to translate this into English sometime..(he he) sorry couldn't resist (rude American humor)

  • why do you need to stretch the muscle out?

  • Thanks for sharing this man!
