Damn I used to listen to this in a studio. Each weekend night we'd meet and throw this on the turntable, handfulls of nice ganja and glowing studio equipment, blacklights to brighten the label. We'd drink fine brews and smoke with percolators... and absorb this fine sound through enormous and varied speakers.

Its impossibile to compare the prod. that L. Perry made in the 70s with anything else. Jamaica is famous for having one the highest concentration of music talent in any country, per capita output of commerc. avail. music Its prob. #1. But there's some VERY unique in how Black Ark-era Lee Perry sounds. Totally his own style, more dub than dub, deeper than most + dont forget that priceless 'dirt' u hear in many of the rcds. Even a Bunny Lee or a Joe Gibbs doesnt have the same unique rawness imho
