@depletable It would work obviously, but you could just look for a pack of heavier gauged strings. Ask whoever the employee in your shop is what he recommends for your guitar type and just consider your options. Different gauges come with much different sound, you just have to find the one you like.
Can anyone who plays Hardcore (i.e The Chariot, Everytime I Die) can confirm that buying 7-string guitar strings, and discarding the high E, is a good way to get solid strings for low-tuning? I'm not tryna play death metal or any shit like that.
Yep, I use baritone set (GHS 70-14) and tune to Drop Bb. Seven string sets are not as thick but work just as well. I would keep the high E in case you have another guitar that needs it.
no man, 7 strings are the same size. just get 10's if you tune down a half step or whole, and 11's for more, etc. if you're into really heavy strings, look into baritone strings.
