High Marnham line

Went for a walk down the disused line from north Clifton to Skegby. The tracks over the Trent and passed High Marnham power station has been pulled up , all signals disconnected and all cables probably nicked! there has been talk of this line being used in the future, all i know is that track machines have been as far as Tuxford in recent months. High Marnham power station closed in 2003.

I read in a rail magazine [can't remember which one] that this is to be put into use as a test track.

Ive heard its to be used for track machines as far as Tuxford but the mystery is why there are new signs, ballast and clips! My kids are at the local school and have been told about trains using that track and to be aware!

Its a Network Rail test line, nothing to do with a new power station....search signalboxes on Google for more info, (you tube will not let me put web address on).

this line has just been fully rebuilt from shirebrook to high marnham(some say as a test track)but speaking to a 360 excavator driver he said it was actually being prepared for the new high marnham ccgt gas fired power station which starts construction in 2014

The last shot of the 56 with the working power station in the background does it for me - very atmospheric 5* not, many folk can tap into this... keep up the good work.
